[We continue to update the “Top 10″ series of posts with bar cookiesand desserts!]
I love bar desserts because of their simplicity. Not only are they typically quite easy to make, but they are also easy to slice, pack up to take somewhere, and eat with your hands, no fork required. (The one exception to the no-fork rule might be the strawberry pretzel squares, but they are worth that extra little effort!) Below are my 10 favorite bar dessert recipes – enjoy!! (And don’t forget to share your favorites in the comments!)
Below is an updated list ofmy 10favorite barrecipes… Enjoy!
1. Blueberry Crumb Bars
2. Chewy, Chunky Blondies
3. Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie Bars – The very first dessert recipe that I can remember baking on my own, this is my grandma’s recipe for pecan pie bars with chocolate chunks mixed in. I still get totally addicted to these every time I make them!
4. Homemade Snickers Bars
5. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
6. Peanut Butter and Jelly Pie Bars
7. Peanut Butter Cup Bars
8. Pumpkin Bars with Cream Cheese Frosting
9. Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
10. Zia Lena’s Date Bar Cookies

What is the best way to store the blackberry pie bars? Do they need refrigeration or will they be okay wrapped on the counter?
Thanks!
-
Michelle — Reply
Hi Connie, Because the pie bar is custard-based, I would store it in the refrigerator. I actually thought that straight of the fridge, these made an excellent breakfast :)

I bet! I’m looking forward to making them for a 4th of July event. Thank you!!

I guess I’ll have to start at the top and work my way down, because there is no way I can pick just one of these to start with! I want them all

Those peach crumb bars look incredible; I still have yet to try them. My favorite bar to make are my chocolate chip jam bars though…I think they may just be my all-time favorite dessert. :-)

I’ve never had the Hello Dolly bars, I must make them!

Those all look so good. I’d go for any peanut butter/chocolate combo too! I actually make a bar similar to the Hello Dollys but melt chocolate and peanut butter and pour in a layer over top (rather than the morsels/pecans) after baking. It’s a great variation!

Dorie’s Chewy Chunky Blondies are my all time favorite! Love them!

I notice a square shape theme here… on purpose or on accident?
-
Michelle — Reply
Well, most bars are baked in a square pan or 9×13 and usually serve 16 (in a square pan) or 24 – it’s easy to just cut them up into squares and serve!

I love any variation on 7 layer/magic bars like those Hello Dollys that Sharlene mentioned. Yum. Raspberry Crumble Bars are delicious, too. Oh, and Toffee Bars and Lemon Bars. Mmmm.

One of my favorites is a cookie base, middle layer of sweetened condensed milk mixed with peanut butter, and mini M&Ms on top! The most addicting bars I’ve ever eaten!

My favorite (up until I try all of these!!!) is Hello Dolly bars from Southern Living. Had them at my birthday party this year instead of cake and what a hit they were! Yummy! Easy to make! All your fav flavors right in one bar! Enjoy!!!!
